We’ve recently received a number of enquiries from customers concerned that their tracking number shows no events or does not display a pickup scan. Rest assured, if you have received your tracking number from us, your parcel has already been collected by AusPost.
What has changed
-
AusPost no longer scans individual parcels at pickup.
-
Instead, they scan the container that holds multiple parcels. This container is known as a Unit Load Device (ULD).
-
Your parcel’s first scan will occur when the ULD is opened at the AusPost sorting facility, not at the time of collection.
This change makes the process faster for drivers, but it can cause tracking to appear as if nothing has happened in the meantime.
When will tracking update?
-
In most cases, tracking updates within 24-48 hours of pickup.
-
Sometimes the first scan occurs overnight, so it may not show until the next morning.
How we confirm pickup
-
Every parcel collected from us is included in a daily pickup manifest.
-
AusPost provides a record of this collection, which confirms the parcels are in their network.
-
Even if tracking has not yet updated online, we can confirm that your parcel has been handed over.
Frequently asked questions
Q: My parcel says “No Events Found.” Was it picked up?
Yes. The parcel has already been collected. The first visible scan happens when AusPost processes it at their facility.
Q: Why doesn’t AusPost scan at pickup anymore?
AusPost has moved us to ULD-level scanning to speed up collection and reduce time spent scanning individual parcels.
Q: Can I track the ULD my parcel was in?
No. Customers only have access to parcel-level tracking. However, we receive the ULD and manifest confirmations directly from AusPost.
Q: This has never happened with my other AusPost orders. Why now?
Different AusPost services and pickup arrangements use different scanning processes. Some services still scan parcels individually at pickup, while others (including bulk business pickups) use ULD container scans instead. That means parcels collected from us may not show tracking until they reach the first sorting facility, even though they are already in AusPost’s network.
Q: What if my parcel still hasn’t updated after 48 hours?
This is uncommon. If it occurs, please contact us and we will raise a trace with AusPost using the manifest and ULD records.
Q: Does this delay delivery?
No. The parcel is already in AusPost’s network. Only the online tracking update is delayed.
